Any piece of furniture that looks ultra modern without having the bells and whistles of today’s furniture could be considered art deco. Low couches, brushed aluminum, sleek simple cushions are all hall marks of art deco interior decorating. For woodwork it is best to try to find antiques although these can be quite expensive.
Many of the laminate wood furniture of today simply can not represent the fine craftsmanship present in art deco interior decorating from the twenties and thirties. Art deco interior decorating is not for everyone, but if you are committed to styling your home in this manor the best thing to do is look for authentic representations and be sure to stick to your theme.
